During a recent visit to Japan, I had the opportunity to try Kobe Beef Asakusa-Kokusai. However, as a foreigner, I acknowledge that I made an error in calculating the cost, mistakenly overlooking an extra zero on the menu prices. I ended up paying $651 for 220g of Chateaubriand, along with two glasses of wine and two glasses of orange juice for 2 people. Upon arrival, the waiter presented the menu and took my order at the door (felt pressured to). When I received the bill, I was shocked by the total but proceeded to pay. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience did not meet expectations. The food quality did not justify the price, and the service was lacking—our soup was only brought to the table after we had finished the steak, and that was only after I requested it. In contrast, the following day, we enjoyed an exceptional wagyu steak at A5 Wagyu Sukiyaki Asakusa PANGA for four people, including alcoholic beverages, for under $200. The quality and value at this establishment far surpassed the Kobe Beef Asakusa experience and there was no difference in quality of beef. Given the significant price disparity, quality of meal and the underwhelming service, I cannot recommend the Kobe Beef Asakusa restaurant, as the cost simply does not justify the value received.
