So I wanted to get some real Kobe beef and through Google, I was led to this restaurant. First off, there are several of them, within a square mile, plus my Japanese is not good at all to get directions, so it was difficult to find. According to the website, there were 3 different lunch specials. One for roughly 7000 yen, one for 11,000 yen and one for 19,000 yen. I made the reservation and chose the 11,000 yen selection. Once we got there, we were presented with a menu that had maybe 5 choices, none of which were the 11,000 one that we ordered. We were told that the one costing the least was not a great cut. There were 3 of us, so we chose the “bottom” 3, the least of which, I believe was 10,000 yen, the highest was 24,000 yen. The meat was delicious, the salad was ok, the vegetables were delicious but you didn’t get very much, 1/8 of a bell pepper, 1 stalk of leek, 1 slice of zucchini, one piece of mushroom and one slice of some kind of melon. And rice. The chef was ok, didn’t talk, explain any of the meats or cuts. I understand that Kobe beef is not going to be cheap but the meal ended up being $346 usd. The meat was superb but I feel duped by the pricing on the web being a total lie.
