This is the first review I have ever written. My husband and I booked a reservation for lunch at this restaurant based on all the great reviews. We were so disappointed. They claim the beef is A5 Kobe wagyu beef but I doubt it. We had the chateaubriand and the sirloin. The chateaubriand was definitely better than the sirloin but not great. I was surprised to find that the sirloin was chewy even with the marbling of fat. This place is pricey and not worth the money. My husband thought the bone-in ribeye that I buy at my local Vons was better.
We did go to an incredible Michelin rated restaurant in Kobe called Setsugetsuka Hanare (Annex) which was recommended by a local Japanese work colleague from Kobe. The price was overall less expensive and the meat melted in your mouth. In my life, I have never tasted beef this delicious and I eat a lot of beef as well as cook steaks regularly. These were the same cuts of meat purchased at the Tokyo restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the reviews. Save your money and find a better place for A5 Kobe Wagyu beef in Tokyo or take a trip to Kobe and visit the restaurant mentioned above. You won’t be disappointed.
